WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg instructed airways on Tuesday the Biden administration doesn’t plan to increase a July 1 deadline for airways to retrofit airplane altimeters to deal with potential interference, the division confirmed.
The Worldwide Air Transport Affiliation, which represents greater than 100 carriers that fly to the USA, mentioned Tuesday that “provide chain points make it unlikely that every one plane could be upgraded by the 1 July deadline, threatening operational disruptions in the course of the peak northern summer time journey season.”
Buttigieg instructed airways on a name the division doesn’t plan to increase the deadline and urged them to work aggressively to proceed retrofitting airplanes.
